To form questions in the present continuous tense, follow these steps:
Structure
Helping verb (am/is/are) + Subject + Main verb (-ing) + Rest of the sentenceNotice the change in the position of the subject and helping verb (is, am, are).
He is playing the piano. -> Is he playing the piano?
They are going to the park. -> Are they going to the park?
It is raining outside. -> Is it raining outside?
To form negative questions in the present continuous tense, we can add "not" after the helping verb or subject of the sentence. It is common to us contracted form (isn't, aren't) if we put "not" after the helping verb.
Is he playing the piano? -> Is he not playing the piano?, Isn't he playing the piano?
Are they going to the park? -> Are they not going to the park?, Aren't they going to the park?
Is it raining outside? -> Is it not raining outside?, Isn't it raining outside?
Am I driving slowly? -> Am I not driving slowly?, Aren't I driving slowly?
