The past perfect tense questions are used to ask whether an action or state had been completed before another event or a specific time in the past.

Structure
Had + subject + past participle (V3) of the main verb + the rest of the sentence + ?

Examples:

  1. For Regular Verbs:

Statement: They had finished the project before the deadline.

Question: Had they finished the project before the deadline?

  2. For Irregular Verbs:

Statement: She had written a letter before she left.

Question: Had she written a letter before she left?

  3. With Verb to Have as the Main Verb:

Statement: He had had enough time to prepare.

Question: Had he had enough time to prepare?

  4. With Verb to Be as the Main Verb:
